Sleeper's £50,000 fuck up
I work with the beers wines & spirits in a shop. Last week was a very stressfull time coming up to Christmas, well that's my excuse anyway. During the week I had to place orders for all the new promotions starting on the 3rd. I got it wrong. Basically instead of ordering by the case, I ordered in units. So, for example, I wanted 100 bottles of vodka. I ordered 100 which turned out to be 100 cases, not bottles. They come in 12's. So that's 100 x 12 = A FUCKING LOT!!!
Luckily enough the people in the warehouse twigged on to this and phoned letting me cancel it at the last minute. However, the only reason the did phone was that they didn't physically have the stock to supply me and just would have sent it if they had it. We're talking around a 100 items, all in huge quantities.
Was only able to cancel the wines and spirits but got hit with the beer today. And there was a lot. About 6 or 7 pallets of bulk. Could have been worse, was due to be 31 pallets in total! Adding up to £48,326 So that, added with the beer I did get, was a hell of a lot money.
All in a days work.
